ASSY 4 WW range extension

The partially threaded screw with 60° milled rib countersunk head is ideal for temporary fixings in the roofing sector or for installation work, even in overhead applications. The existing range (∅5mm) has been expanded to include the 4.5 mm diameter with RW30 drive (L = 35 to 100 mm) and the 6 mm diameter with RW40 (L = 40 to 160 mm). The outstanding advantages of the screw are the maximum possible force transmission thanks to the deeper integration of the wobble-free RW bit.

Timber construction ...

... made simple and tried-and-tested connections brought up to the latest processing standards. This is the aim of the screw-on Würth Wood Connector WC, which is based on the dovetail principle. The tapered dovetail connectors or blunt cone connectors based on a stable BFU 100 carrier plate are ideal for the structural connection of wall, ceiling or roof elements. The arrangement of the connectors is planned using CAD. The positioning holes and the suspension pockets are produced in the joinery process using conventional finger cutters. The connectors are fastened with an ASSY 4 PII CSMP screw. To ensure maximum installation reliability in terms of positioning and alignment, the positioning holes are designed in different sizes. An insertion rebate with an upstream pocket is CNC-milled into the component to be connected. The connector is hooked into this with a precise fit. Compared to conventional metal connectors, the dovetail geometry in combination with the upstream pocket offers a very high assembly clearance during the hook-in process.

Product advantages: Faster assembly of the wall elements, exact positioning thanks to prefabrication in the joinery and safe, simple assembly thanks to known fasteners, high permissible tolerance clearance of 2 cm during element assembly, sustainable, can be dismantled or easily removed, invisible connection

Suitable joints for cross laminated timber: L- and T-shaped connections

The third brochure on detailed planning of cross-laminated timber connections provides you with all important information on preliminary design of L- and T-shaped joints.

This brochure supports you in pre-dimensioning wall-wall and wall-floor joints in an economic and quick manner. The load-bearing capacity tables include several different fasteners and respective fastener patterns, which allows you to select the optimal fastener and pattern for the connection you want to build, depending on the required load bearing capacity.

The brochure on L- and T-shaped joints is available for download in the dimensioning Support section. It is the third brochure in the series of cross-laminated timber application data sheets.

Suitable joints for cross laminated timber: wall and floor assemblies

In the second new brochure on detailed planning of cross laminated timber joints for wall and floor assemblies you will find simple load-bearing capacity tables for the most common CLT joints. These load-bearing capacity tables include specifications for different fasteners and their spacing or assembly patterns. This allows for great flexibility with regard to the optimum selection and number of fasteners.

The brochure Wall and Floor Assemblies, available for download in the Design Aids section, includes two brochures from the series of CLT application data sheets.

ASSY 4 TRH extension of the product range

Addition to the product range: ASSY 4 TRH, extension of the product range

Due to changed drill hole dimensions for gate hinges, the product range of the corrosion-resistant black ASSY 4 TRH truss head screw has been extended by the 5 mm in diameter version. Visit our online shop or click this link on product information to find out more about the extended product range.

ASSY® plus 4 A2/A4 P CSMR60

New product: ASSY® plus 4 A2/A4 P CSMR60. The intelligent stainless steel screw for tighter joining, perfect countersunk finish, fast application even near edges.

Fast, precise, powerful and with a perfect, almost concealed finish. This is the new ASSY® plus 4 A2/A4 P CSMR60 stainless steel screw line available with diameters ranging from 3.5 to 4.5 mm. This performance is achieved by combining individual screw features such as a small 60° countersunk head with underhead thread, which ensures perfect countersinking of the screw head, with high head pull-through resistance. The centring drill tip with a coarse thread allows for the screw to be set close to the edge with pinpoint accuracy and screwed in very fast without splitting the wood.

The differences in the thread pitch between main thread and underhead thread ensure perfect joining without splitting. The high-quality austenitic A2 and A4 stainless steel allows for permanently secure use in weathered application areas e.g. façades. ASSY® plus 4 A2/A4 P CSMR60 represents the innovative strength of our ASSY® products and inspires our customers.

45/60° screw-in angle

New product: 45/60° screw-in angle for easy and precise diagonal screwing of long ASSY® 4 and ASSY® plus VG 4 screws

The Würth 45/60° screw-in angle is suitable for precise and quick installation of long ASSY® 4 and ASSY® plus VG 4 wood screws featuring a diameter from 6 to 12 mm at an angle or to arrange them crosswise. Load deviations, which can result from incorrect screw assembly or screw damage due to screw contact at the crossing points, are avoided. The integrated rip fence for setting the screws parallel to the side edge is variably adjustable. The rip fences can be arranged alternately to center the screws in the middle of the beam. In order to minimize the screw run-off when setting the ASSY® wood screw, a movable stainless steel stop can be used. This allows for one-handed assembly. The stainless steel stop can be inserted on both sides, making the 45/60° screw-in angle suitable for both right-handed and left-handed users. The wear-resistant plastic design guarantees a long service life. Integrated marking lines make marking the setting points easy and the integrated bit holders allow for comfortable working. Easy overhead mounting is possible thanks to integrated magnets.

Fall-proof installation of window components

Did you know? Fall-proof installation of window components with ASSY® 4 screws

ASSY® 4 JH joist hanger screws and ASSY® 4 combi can be used in accordance with DIBt national technical approval ABZ Z-14-4-728 to secure window components in timber and CLT. The overall Würth system consists of ASSY® screws and W-ABZ window installation rail offering fast and fall-proof window installation in timber construction. For fastening of the W-ABZ window installation rail to the stud or the CLT the regulations of EAT 11/0190 for ASSY® screws must be adhered to. Depending on the required edge distances, mounting can be done directly or with the help of a pre-drilled hole.

BauBuche beams: Practical example SWG - Schraubenwerke Gaisbach

A BauBuche structure spanning up to 82 meters is a world record! Timber has long been used as a building material in residential and public buildings. What’s new about this project: designing, calculating and finally building a production hall covering more than 10,000 m2 of floor space that is entirely made of BauBuche. That very endeavor was undertaken on the premises of SWG Schraubenwerk Gaisbach GmbH, a screw manufacturer belonging to the Würth Group. In spring 2019, the company broke ground for the largest production hall made of wood worldwide.

This article provides an insight into the construction and assembly techniques used. The key aspect in this construction project: the innovative building material BauBuche, a laminated veneer lumber made from European-sourced beech, which is gaining in importance in times of climate change.

The new Würth CAD database: faster, better, up-to-date

From now on, high-quality CAD data in different levels of detail and file formats for 2D, 3D and BIM applications is available for download in our new free-of-charge CAD database. Individual data or products or entire data packages can be downloaded quickly and easily without entering an access package. The BIM-ready CAD data can be used in the planning tool e.g. for Revit.
